All the news that's fit to be…ignored by mainstream media

John Stewart’s brilliant breakdown of Sarah Palin, right-wing-liars and the media (video rescued!)

Posted by Sable on September 6, 2008

Sept 5  Gotta love the Huff because this is straight up must see TV:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/04/jon-stewart-hits-karl-rov_n_123852.html

Sept. 4 UPDATE:  YouTube users with Daily Show vids from the RNC week have a ll been reported for user violations, likely copyright infringement, so the videos are no longer available to see.  Hmmmm…  I think it was FOX Fake News.  You know how much they hate the Daily Show folks, and this video hit Fox pretty damn hard.  It was them or Cindy McCain.  She is after all the Wicked Witch of the East….or was it West?

I think that the video below should be considered along with this video, because, really, there are so many people across this country that do not understand what the major news networks are doing in this election or any election for that matter.

Don’t be sheeple, people, don’t be sheeple.

Palin Accuses ‘Obama/Biden Democrats’ of Attacking Her Family, But Campaign Can’t Name One

September 04, 2008 8:05 PM

<!–

Ed OKeefe

–>Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin sent out a fundraising solicitation today that charged that “the Obama/Biden Democrats have been vicious in their attacks directed toward me, my family and John McCain.”

I asked spokespeople of the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee just which “Obama/Biden Democrats” they’re referring to.

The response I got was that Obama spokesman Mark Bubriski erroneously attacked Palin as a supporter of Pat Buchanan.

That’s it. That’s the evidence.

An attack on Palin herself.

In other words, they can’t name one person affiliated with the Obama-Biden campaign who attacked the Palin family.

But she made the charge anyway, to help raise money.

Incidentally, in 1998 Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, told the following joke at a Republican fundraiser:

“Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?” McCain joked about the then-President’s then-teenage daughter. “Because her father is Janet Reno.”

”This is the bad boy,” he told the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. “It was stupid and cruel and insensitive. I’ve apologized. I can’t take it back. I could give you a whole bunch of excuses, but there are no excuses. I was wrong, but do you want me crucified? How many days does it need to be a story?’”

Now THAT is attacking someone’s family!

Thanks for posting this. I don’t have cable so I don’t get to see this show. I really needed to laugh right now.
But comedy aside…what can we do to bring our reality and the real needs of the people of this country to the forefront? I wish I was independently wealthy and could fly out to some of the battleground states to campaign for Obama. Here in Seattle I feel I’d be preaching to the choir.

i saw this, and it was pure poetry. they are just such hypocrites. john nailed it on the head. and then they claim we’re the hypocrites for reminding them of their original stance on all these issues — buchanan and rove ought to be ashamed of themselves. and don’t let me get started on “family values” palin: how could you support abstinence-only education, have a daughter end up pregnant in spite of this brilliant “education”, insist she keep the baby and then publicly declare to the nation that this is a great example of a pro-life story? the disparities are so glaring: where are your family values when you have a sexually active teenager? how come the abstinence education didn’t “take”? and how come it becomes a pro-life issue when teen pregnancy shouldn’t be an issue AT ALL in a conservative christian househould in the first place? Why are you using your daughter to further your political gain then calling foul when other people question her pregnancy? what message are you sending to the youth of america when you parade her and her new fiance around? how do you think american teens will respond to a pregnant teen in the white house? where was your judgement when you accepted the vp nomination even knowing how much you have on your plate as a parent? where was your husband’s judgement when he supported your decision? most families need the attention of both parents, and given the drama in yours, you especially should be willing to immolate your personal ambitions for the good of your family. Sable, I could go on and on, but I think you get my drift….

    Solvay-

I think that for right now, for just a few more days, we need to chill, because that is what Obama’s camp is doing. Let them R’s hve their week; we had ours, right? The media is not going to report the backlash and the reality, until starting on Sunday when they hold the two camps and conventions up to each other, and then look at other factors like McCain telling the media to stop doing their jobs- they don’t like that. I think we’ll see the Dem women come out swinging too, because, I believe, this election lives and dies on a woman’s right.

Beyond that, we need to keep giving money. We need to keep spreading information, sending it to people we know, and asking them to send it to all the people they know. That is how I got started with this blog, I routinely send out so much info via email, that I needed a central warehouse- then it just spread like wildfire after that.

We have to send the clear message that the R’s are liars. And elitists. Cindy’s outfit the other night cost 300k. They don’t know shit about “real” American struggles, thus they won’t be responsible to them.

Good points Sable. I sent out an email to my many friends and family members who are scattered all over the country asking them to tell me what they’re hearing where they live. So far I’ve heard back from NYC, Chicago, Syracuse NY, Iowa and San Marcos TX. Few are thrilled with Palin–though my Libertarian ex-bro-in-law wants to know more about her and see what the Conservative pundits think.
I just don’t get how middle America can believe that the Republicans are representing their best interests. It is all too true that reality is what we perceive it to be.
Aside from donating, we need to make sure that people are registered to vote—especially people of color, youth and low-income as they are the ones who will be most negatively affected if McCain/Palin take the White House. Then, we need to volunteer to drive people to the polls on election day.

Sable – where did you get that 300k figure for the cost of Cindy McCain’s RNC outfit?
