Seattle Public Schools blocks the SV; gee, we can’t figure out why…

Update 2: Cooper staff are positive the site- and our related email address- HAS BEEN BLOCKED.
Attempts to access the SV site from District computers result in a big fat “fail”.
Attempts to send SV emails from District email accounts- also a failure.
Forwarding info via email with SV links- not possible.
We smell fuckery afoot folks!
Update: SPS claims the SV have NOT been blocked. Here is the explaination from IT Dept. via their PR office:
All blogs are blocked for students initially because there is no way to know whether the content is appropriate for students or meets CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) guidelines. Staff generally have access to blogs. However, at sites that are still on T1 rather than fiber, we do not have the mechanism available that automatically identifies a teacher or admin machine and applies the admin, as opposed to student, filter.
Most likely the Cooper staff who are trying to view this blog are either 1) doing so from a student machine, or 2) using a machine that has not been specifically identified as a teacher machine. Cooper is a school that is still on T1 connection.
Dayum. We were starting to wear it as a badge of honor. But we also like the idea of teachers and staff being able to access our site from district computers, so, back to the grind I guess. Thanks for the support though!

This word just in from some not-too-happy Cooper staffers: the SPS has directed its IT department to block school district computers from accessing the Sable Verity website.
What the fuck did we do?
I know it’s cliche, but… don’t hate, appreciate!

Wow, for real? This whole SPS thing feels more and more like some Kafka novel.
Just wanted to say Hi. I’m a Lowell parent with some connections to South Seattle. Although I’m distracted by my own concerns with SPS, I’ve been trying to get a handle on AAA and decide whether it’s worth fighting for – I’m not finding a lot of discussion in the various Save Our Schools sites that I’m tracking.
I get where you’re coming from and appreciate you having the courage to speak your mind. I’m sure you aren’t alone in your opinion, even if it’s unpopular.

I’m a SPS teacher and am using a school computer to access this site. I have actually visited (before or after contracted time) your site daily for the past two weeks (I tend to read rather slowly and you have lots of interesting articles) your site has never been blocked from my teacher computer. If you want not to be blocked from student computers, you may need to not ask “what the FUCK did we do”. FUCK being the key phrase the district filter frowns upon.
